ICYMI: New Jersey Parents Appeal Dismissal of Lawsuit Challenging Last In, First Out Teacher Layoff Policies
The lawsuit, HG v. Harrington, claimed that the “last in, first out” mandates governing teacher layoffs violate the right of children in low-income districts to a “thorough and efficient education.” The lawsuit was sponsored by the Partnership for Educational Justice.
New Jersey Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson tossed the case earlier this month, saying the plaintiffs had failed to establish how their children were harmed by the policies.
